He is a fugitive wolf shifter. She is a visually impaired woman who just adopted a guide dog. The guide dog is him. She figured this out in week one. She decided to let him figure that out on his own.

Ethan Calloway is a former pack Beta, a man the Conclave wants found, and currently the most overqualified guide dog in the state of his own existence. With every route out of the territory blocked and a quiet order issued on his capture, he has two options: keep running, or walk through the front door of a yellow house in a small neutral town and pretend to be a dog.

He chooses the door.

Lena moved to Willow Creek eight weeks ago. She came to build something that was entirely hers: a life on her own terms, in a town nobody was watching, designed from the ground up by a woman who had decided she was done living inside other people's version of her. She has a farmers market on Saturdays. A regular table at the diner. A back porch with wind chimes that tell her which way the weather is coming from.

She did not plan for a guide dog who sleeps with one eye on every exit.

She knows within a week that he is not what he appears to be. She has always known. She tracks the world by sound and weight and air and the specific quality of presence, and whatever is living in her back garden is carrying a grief that no dog has ever carried, watching the door with the attention of a man who has been wrong about a room before and does not plan to be wrong again.

She decides to let it arrive at its own pace.

The Conclave is still looking. The territory question is not resolved. Ethan has a fake Italian cuisine credential, a weekly cooking class, and exactly one person in Willow Creek who knows what he is.

She has known from the beginning.

Funny, fierce, and quietly devastating. My Bodyguard Is a Wolf Shifter is the first book in the Willow Creek Wolves series, following a wolf who ran until he found a town that held him, and a woman who held everything with both hands from the very beginning.
