She came to Willow Creek to investigate acoustic anomalies. She found a large, friendly man at the cheese stall who knew far too much about wolf territorial communication. She agreed to an interview. That was her first mistake.

Dani Marsh has been collecting the shapes of things she cannot yet name for nine years. Her podcast has forty-seven thousand listeners and a reputation for asking the right questions one step short of the answer. She follows the sounds to a small neutral town, sets up a pinboard, and starts working the story the way she has always worked stories: carefully, patiently, without naming the shape until she is sure of it.

Bram is the pack's unofficial logistics coordinator, a man who has never once been described as subtle, and the most overqualified interview subject in the county. He knows within two hours that she is going to find what she is looking for. He tells her eight things he should not have told her. He agrees to a follow-up interview. He listens to three episodes of her podcast at eleven-thirty at night and does not sleep.

He is absolutely not thinking about her.

Dani is absolutely not thinking about him.

The cat is not impressed with either of them.

She came to Willow Creek for a story. She found a story, and a commission, and a coalition, and a key to the room above the bookshop, and a wall that needed another wall built beside it, and a man who could not stop talking whenever something interested him, which was, it turned out, her.

The town holds what it holds. So do people. It just takes time for both to say so.

Funny, precise, and quietly impossible to put down. My Podcast Guest Is a Wolf Shifter is the second book in the Willow Creek Wolves series, following an investigative journalist who spent nine years collecting shapes of things and found, in a small town with too many secrets, the one she had not been looking for.
