The Brute’s Illusion– Easy Summary

The Brute's Illusion is a scary fantasy story about telling the truth, being free, and having courage. People in the kingdom of Veyra live under a clear sky and follow the sound of silver bells. They think the Radiant King keeps them safe, but they're not really happy.
Elian Vale, who is seventeen years old, starts to notice some odd mistakes. Things shift and move back and forth in front of his eyes, and shadows move in the wrong direction. He wakes up to find a note on his wall that says, "The world is not real." This comes after having a dream about a horned monster called the Hell Brute.
Elian meets Serah and a group of people who are awake. Their story is that Veyra is stuck in a dream. People are controlled by the Brute through their fears, dreams, memories, and wants. There is damage to their real city, but their bodies are still chained under the dream.
Mira, Elian's sister, doesn't believe him at first. Because of the Brute, she can't remember things and thinks their lost parents are still alive. Mira later remembers the truth and goes to join Elian.
They go into the white tower together, face painful dreams, and learn that the people of Veyra used to believe in the illusion to get away from war, hunger, and loss. When people hide their fear and shame, the Brute gets stronger.
Elian and his friends are open and honest about how they really feel. They are less strong now. Elian and Mira finally break the big bone bell that runs the dream.
Veyra wakes up to a broken but real world. People repair their homes, grow their own food, and learn how to live without having to be happy all the time. Elian knows that telling the truth can hurt, but it also sets people free. An ideal lie might make you feel safe, but you have to choose real life, even if it's hard.
The story shows that being brave means looking into other people's pain, helping them, and coming together to build hope after the darkness.
