Novalee Creed used to be somebody
Leader of the fifteen piece Novalee Creed Orchestra blasting out big band swing and the blues, selling out at stations across the galaxy.
Now he's a washed up bandleader on a down-market dinner cruiser, playing the same set night after night for guests who barely listen.
When The Black Society books the ship for its Christmas gala, things go from bad to worse - gangster jokes and nostalgia are the least of it.
Wry and unflinching, shot through with gallows humour, this is a story about doing your job even when it turns out to be surviving.
