A Stargazer's Wool is a collection of twenty-one original short stories gathered from years of watching the world with the eyes of someone who refuses to stop imagining what could be.

In these pages you will meet characters who feel unmistakably real: a domestic robot navigating the chaos of a teenager's morning; a traveler stranded between universes; a woman starving on an alien planet makes a defining choice; soldiers on a mission that refuses to go as planned; a young boy abducted by aliens and sold into slavery. Each story is different in setting and tone, but they share a common thread woven through Fix's career as an IT developer and manager — the undeniable truth that nothing works the first time.

That theme, discovered only in retrospect as W. A. Fix compiled this collection, gives the book an unexpected honesty. Robots malfunction. Plans unravel. People try again. And in that space between failure and the next attempt, something very human emerges.

W. A. Fix writes characters the way a careful craftsman works — with patience, detail, and the conviction that every person on the page deserves to be fully known. You may like them. You may not. But you will recognize them.

For readers who love short fiction with heart, imagination, and the quiet certainty that nothing worth doing ever worked perfectly the first time.
