WHO IS SHE? ... LITERALLY.

Curious about her historical origins—if not her actual family—Sydney-sider Maeve O'Brien takes a genealogy DNA test. The results are both intriguing and disturbing—a full sibling match in New Zealand. A man named Jack Rourke. He must be her older brother, Donal, mustn't he? The one who was abducted as a toddler and never found? It's the only logical explanation. Until it's not. When she contacts him, Jack offers another possible reason for their genetic connection.

Firmly anchored in the present, Maeve's long been determined to leave her painful past in the past. After all, who would want to be constantly reminded about a missing brother, a mother so steeped in alcohol and bitterness she hoarded physical remnants of the past as though they were treasure, or a father who callously deserted them both.

But, after the DNA test, Maeve is compelled to delve into the very history she's tried so hard to avoid. Is Maeve really who she always believed herself to be? The search for an answer to that question takes her on an emotionally devastating journey as she unravels her parents' many lies and deceits to uncover the horrifying truth.
