Based on a heart-wrenching and inspiring true story.

In the midst of the brutal Pacific theater of World War II, an unlikely hero emerged from the mud of the New Guinea jungle: a tiny, four-pound Yorkshire Terrier named Smoky. Found abandoned in a foxhole, she wasn't just a pet—she became a certified war dog, a lifesaver, and a beacon of hope for thousands of soldiers.

From running crucial telegraph wires through dangerous, enemy-targeted pipes to surviving kamikaze attacks and tropical typhoons, Smoky's courage defied her size. But her heroism didn't stop on the battlefield. In the dark, crowded military hospitals, her presence brought comfort to wounded soldiers, pioneering the very concept of modern therapy dogs.

Written by J.K. Wilder and published by North Folk Press, The Forgotten Heroine is a moving tribute to loyalty, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between humans and animals in our darkest hours.
