At seventy-seven, still grieving his wife five years after her death, Harlow Hyde is visited in his Florida den by a demon named TIME—and offered an impossible bargain.
Go back. Change history. Undo the mistakes of a century before they happen.
No one bargains with demons and walks away unscathed, and Hyde is warned by the Holy Spirit that this is a fight for his soul. He accepts anyway, driven by equal parts faith, pride, and a stubborn refusal to be outmaneuvered.
His terms: a few hours inside Washington, DC's Memorial Continental Hall on December 31, 1916, the eve of America's entry into World War I, and an audience with thirty-one of the era's most powerful men, including President William Howard Taft and William Jennings Bryan. His mission: convince them to change the course of events already set in motion—the Armenian genocide, a near-forgotten Allied invasion of Russia, the Greco-Turkish War, and a single German battleship—before history locks in its bloodiest chapters.
Part spiritual reckoning, part historical gambit, My Visit from a Demon follows one flawed, aging man's attempt to rewrite the twentieth century, and asks what it costs a soul to make a deal with the enemy, even for the right reasons.
Will Hyde's daring stand change the world, or prove the demons right about him? Step into December 31, 1916, and find out.
