*The Analects* (*Lunyu*) is a collection of sayings and short dialogues of Kong Qiu (Confucius, 551–479 BCE) and his disciples, compiled by their followers after his death. The book is the foundational text of the Chinese Confucian tradition, has been continuously read across East Asia for more than two thousand four hundred years, and remains one of the three most-read religious-philosophical books in the human record.
