This book is a spin-off of the Custard series and tells the story of how The Dragon Chronicles came to be found. Mr. Binder, the owner of a nearby book repair shop, finds an old, tattered book in the trash. He takes it to his shop and carefully cleans, repairs, and rebinds the book. Mr. Binder realizes that the book is a magical and valuable piece of work. Tatters, once dismissed for his worn appearance, becomes famous, illustrating that worth and beauty can lie beneath an aged exterior.
