Rebeca Chambers knows how to disappear. As a lone freighter navigating the treacherous trails of the Southwest, her survival depends on staying invisible. But her anonymity ends the day a rockslide reveals a hidden City of the Ancients tucked into a sheer cliff face. Inside are iridescent pottery jars and razor-sharp obsidian blades—treasures that the wealthy elite back East are relic mad to own.

The discovery sparks a different kind of rush: Relic Fever. Suddenly, the desert is crawling with pot-hunters and black-market looters who care nothing for the history they are smashing. Rebeca, who feels a profound, spiritual connection to the silent city she found, refuses to let it be stripped bare. She must use her knowledge of the terrain to lead a high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse, protecting the ancient site from a ruthless ring of traffickers who view the Old Soul artifacts as nothing more than currency.
