What if the worst mistake of your life turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to you?

Mira Nasser is a botanist who signed up for a colonial mission to Tau-9—a predictable, thoroughly boring world with pre-fab housing and a welcome committee. Instead, she wakes from cryosleep on an uncharted planet under a lavender sky, surrounded by strangers who are as confused as she is. There's an anxious accountant searching for his missing cat, a stoic engineer haunted by tragedy, a retired history teacher carrying his late wife's unfinished map, a musician who walked away from medical school, and a teenage stowaway who has been invisible her entire life.

Eleven misfits. One colossal administrative error. No way home.

The planet they call Echo is a world of impossible beauty: silver grass that glows in the dark, amber trees that spiral toward the sky, and an ancient signal—a lullaby—that has been singing beneath the surface for forty thousand years. The long-vanished Circle-Makers left their gardens, their songs, and their welcome, waiting for someone to arrive.

Now the accidental colonists must decide: wait for a rescue that may never come, or build a life in the ruins of a lost civilization. From the first makeshift shelter to the discovery of an underground archive, from delivering an alien baby to inventing their own holiday, these strangers will argue, grieve, heal, and become something none of them expected.
A family.
