Late autumn in Brussels

Marcel Vermeylen, the charmingly chaotic inspector, is about to make holiday plans and sort out his turbulent private life when a series of brutal murders shakes the capital of Europe. Who is behind it? Whilst the federal police, state security and counter-intelligence services squabble over jurisdiction, Marcel keeps trusting his instincts. And they tell him that the trail leads straight to the heart of the European institutions. His investigations focus on the Berlaymont building, the headquarters of the European Commission. There he uncovers a sinister combination of lust for power, revenge and intrigue. In his attempt to get to the truth, he finds himself in the crosshairs - and even has to fear for his family.

Inspector Marcel Vermeylen's new case: a psychologically intense crime novel - fast-paced, highly topical and, as always, gripping right up to the very last moment.
