The Belmington brothers of Middleburg, Virginia, have inherited wealth, horses, and a powerful bank. But privilege can't shield them from greed, betrayal, and murder.

When a foxhunt ends in a suspicious death, Detective John Taylor is pulled into a web of family secrets, corruption, and a violent militia hiding in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Arnold and Charles Belmington will risk everything to protect their empire. Their brother William, a prolific and popular painter who also manages the Belmingtons' equestrian assets, fights to save what's left of the family name. And Arnold's daughter, Marilyn Belmington-brilliant, ambitious, and torn between love and loyalty-may hold the key to redemption.

Thrilling and atmospheric, Tall Trees Catch a Lot of Wind is a story of wealth undone by crime, and of resilience as deep-rooted as the Virginia trees that bend but do not break.
